A mommy makeover is a series of plastic surgery procedures designed to help women restore the figure they had before pregnancy.
After pregnancy you might adjust your diet and exercise every day, but find that you still can’t reach a place where you are satisfied with your body. Our patients often share concerns about stubborn fat, loose skin, sagging breasts, lost breast fullness, and a protruding tummy.
The Mommy Makeover is designed to improve or correct these conditions through breast augmentation, a tummy tuck, and body contouring with liposuction.
Through breast augmentation and the breast lift, the volume and position of your breasts can be restored or even enhanced beyond pre-pregnancy status. Saline or silicone implants can add fullness and tighten the skin, while the breast lift will improve the position of the nipple and the overall profile of the breast.
Tumescent liposuction is used during a mommy makeover to remove persistent areas of fat you have accumulated. A major fluctuation in your weight can cause pockets of stubborn fat to appear where they didn’t exist before. Pouches of fat on the tummy, hips, or thighs may affect the proportion of your body and distort your natural silhouette.
Stretching of the midsection during pregnancy can leave you with a protruding abdomen and weakened muscles. Tummy tuck surgery removes excess skin from your stomach and repairs the muscles of the abdominal wall. In some cases, a less extensive “mini-tummy tuck” is appropriate.
A: Discomfort is controlled by prescription medications such as Valium, Percocet, or Vicodin. Most of the discomfort will be associated with the breast augmentation, where the implant is placed below muscles that will need to heal. For comfort, we recommend that patients stay over night in the hospital during the first night.
A: It depends on the procedures that are being performed. These procedures are considered safe when performed by a qualified plastic surgeon.
A: The price of a mommy makeover generally falls somewhere between $12,000 and $20,000. We can’t list a specific price because each procedure will vary and each patient will have different needs.
