Juvederm Injectable Facial Filler

Juvederm_iconJuvederm is a next generation, longer lasting dermal filler made with the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid gel. It is a smooth gel filler, used for contouring and volumizing depressions and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, forehead wrinkles, cheeks and nasal furrows and is an ideal option to plump thin lips.

Juvederm is FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. Therefore it can be used in a variety of treatments. The most common area is the naso-labial fold, also known as the smile lines. Other areas include the following:

  • Marionette lines
  • Glabellar furrows (lines between the eyebrows)
  • Acne scars (often combined with other procedures)
  • Adding volume to the lips
  • Adding volume to the cheeks
  • Tear trough deformity

What can I expect after Juvederm treatment?

Results will be visible immediately after your injections. Due to some minor swelling, you may look a little fuller than you expect, but this will improve rapidly over the next few days.

If you experience mild swelling or bruising from any type of injection, ice or cold packs can help to minimize swelling or discomfort. You can generally apply makeup over the treated area immediately.

How long does Juvederm last?

Results from Juvederm injections are typically 6-12 months in the nasolabial folds, 3-6 months in the lips, and 9+ months in the tear trough area.

Does Juvederm injection hurt?

Wrinkle filler injections can sting at times. Fortunately, Dr. Hess can use topical anesthetic (numbing cream) or dental blocks for his patients undergoing these treatments. While it partly depends on which area(s) is injected, many wrinkle filler treatments are actually being done pain free. If you are concerned about discomfort during injection, ask about the latest fillers that are composed with anesthetic. They provide a great introductory filler for patients who have not yet experienced an injectable treatment.
