Great skin begins with quality skin care, and medical grade (cosmeceutical) skin care is truly preventative maintenance for your face. Often used in concert with one another, the following treatments can maintain youthful complexion longer, and help to minimize visible signs of aging.
Evolence
Evolence is the latest FDA-approved injectable filler from OrthoNeutrogena, intended for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. The drug has a very unique composition, made of porcine collagen that has been purified, stabilized, and cross-linked with the natural sugar ribose.
The composition of Evolence bears a strong genetic similarity to human collagen. Unlike fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm, the porcine collagen composition of Evolence comes from a natural source, which is considered safe because of the known biocompatibility of pig and human tissues. In fact, porcine-derived medical devices and drugs (like heart valves) have been in use for a long time.
Who is a good candidate for Evolence?
No allergy test is required for Evolence, as with some other collagen fillers, which many busy people seem to appreciate. While Evolence can be injected anywhere, those who exhibit moderate to deep facial wrinkles and folds, such as "smile lines" are the best candidates for treatment.
Fine lines and wrinkles can be corrected with Evolence Breeze, which may also be used as a supplement to regular Evolence. Evolence Breeze is also a great option for treating the lips.
Evolence injections
During this brief procedure, Dr. Hess will use a fine needle to inject the collagen into targeted areas, taking special care to massage it into place. One of the advantages of Evolence is that it "sets" within minutes of being injected, so it can't be manipulated later.
Recovery and Results
Complete correction can be achieved in just one visit, and can last 6-12 months. Evolence is known for its immediate results with no downtime, and minimal bruising. The chance of noticeable bruising is far less with Evolence, than with other comparable fillers. Side effects can include minor swelling and redness.
