Breast Reconstruction
Reconstruction Method:
TRAM Flap
Tissue Expanders Used:
Mentor Medium Height Contour Profile Expander
Implants Used:
None
Reconstruction Notes:
The expander was never filled. The patient was happy with the size of the TRAM flap so the expander was removed.
Nipple Reconstruction:
The nipple reconstruction was performed via a modified skate flap 3 months after the second stage of reconstruction. When the flap is appropriately constructed there will be good blood supply to allow it to survive with good projection.

Doctor's Comments

This patient underwent a right modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer. She then underwent a right pedicled TRAM flap with tissue expander reconstruction. To match the left breast with the reconstructed right breast a breast lift was performed. These early post operative pictures demonstrate good symmetry and shape. The scars will fade and eventually turn white leaving little evidence of breast reconstruction.
